| FOUNDERS OF THE
BROTHERHOOD OF CAPE HORNIERS CHILEAN SECTION
On November 16, 1986, a group of seamen met to create a Brotherhood of people that, as Captain of a ship,
had crossed the meridian of Cape Horn, at the south end of continental
Chile.
The next year, 1987, they carried out all the required legal steps, prepared the statutes
by which this Institution is governed, and began to admit members.
On November 17 of 1987, this Brotherhood was officially founded, with
headquarters in Valparaíso. This was the principal arrival port in Chile for the ships of
the nitrate - the Cape Horners, who then continued on to Antofagasta,
Tocopilla and Iquique, to load the mineral.
